Bare brings together artwork from several Western Australian artists, united by a common element, the “Life Drawing” sessions at The Art Space Collective.
Every week, artists gather, lured upstairs, perhaps by the aroma of carrot cake, or perhaps by the shared desire to imagine, create, and express themselves amongst like-minded people.
An undraped model poses, and the scratching of charcoal and a compilation of cool music are the only sounds to be heard. The result of these sessions is this amazing display of studied works, on show until December. The Art Space Collective team feel not only privileged to curate and host these works, but also very pleased with the support we have received from the community. Just as the artworks are an expression of the artist, so to this exhibition is a reflection of the bonding of a wonderful Scarborough community.
“Drawing is the artist’s most direct and spontaneous expression. A species of writing: it reveals, better than does painting, his true personality.” Edgar Degas
