Very Arty Weekends with
‘Art of Resilience’ Term 2

18th May 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

$65

It’s on, the great juggling act of parenthood. Work, school, afterschool and weekend activities and maybe, just maybe after everyone else has been taken care of you may get some time to fill your bucket. We know how hard it is to fit in everything, so these sessions condense Strength Heroes afterschool program into half day sessions.

This is a chance to plan some ME time in your diary and drop and run. Your children will be engaged with loads of creative play, exploration and fun art with our usual DOSE of resilience. No screens, lots of guidance to be creative with our invitations to play with clay, printing, sculpting, paint and drawing.

Each term a different resilience theme. Each workshop a different project and new concept that can be done stand alone or as a series.

Term 2: Theme – Brain House – Resilient kids recognise unhelpful thoughts and have strategies to deal with them.

Children learn to recognise their own emotions as normal and identify helpful and unhelpful thought which supports them to become more resilient. We will explore imagination, creative thinking and “Can-Do”, all vital components of the resilient children. We explore what happens in our brain when we make mistakes and what happens when adopt a growth mindset. Art projects will assist children in recognising when they are jumping to conclusions or catastrophising and help them develop helpful thinking and acting strategies when Perfect Peter, Angry Adam or any other unhelpful characters take over their Brain House. Children will create a character and bring it to life with painting, sculpture, drawing and more. All this along with our regular DOSE of resilience and gratitude.

Bring: Snacks, drink bottle and wear clothes that like a bit of mess

Please note: Each session and day will have different activities. Children doing the whole day will be supervised over lunch time.
