Flower Power Collage
with artist Marite Norris

Flower Power conjures up images of big, bold, colourful flowers, the hippie movement, The Beatles Seargent Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, California college students in the 60’s, psychadelic music, combo vans and anti-establishment attitudes.

Join Marite for an enjoyable afternoon of creatively expressing through collage what FLOWER POWER means to you. And of course, it’s different for everyone. The Nyoongar season of Djilba brings the acacia blooms and this season brings the beginning of the massive wildflower explosion in the south west, which means that we have so much local inspiration to work with. Feel free to bring any printed images of flowers and blooms that you love to add to your artwork.

Using music and pop images for inspiration, we start with a few fun warm-ups.
With a focus on colour and a sense of the quirky, Marite Norris will take you on a collage journey. From great layout and positioning through to texture, form, image placement and finally glueing.

Far removed from the digital cut and paste we all know, this analogue cut and paste workshop is super fun!

Every participant will take home a finished collage on round card.

A selection of scissors, glues and inspiring image materials will be provided.

Light refreshments and glass of bubbly are provided.
