Clay Echidna and Bush Habitat with Della from Arty Pants (Ages 6-10)

20th April 2022 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Children will learn clay making skills creating their Echidna family and friends and a mini habitat using recycled and local bush materials.

Starting with a brief chat about echidnas then onto the clay, the children will learn to roll their clay into a smooth ball and start the pinch pot process to form the body of their echidna.

Rolling, pinching, pulling and pressing are just a few of the clay techniques that will help them make a beautiful echidna , and of course one or two baby echidnas (they have a surprisingly cute name- I wonder who will know?)

There will be options for echidna spikes which we will discuss in the workshop, so each child’s echidna will be unique and special to them.

Once all the echidnas are made the children will begin their mini habitat using sand, found bush from the local area, sticks , leaves, nuts, dried grasses etc… the things echidnas love to burrow in and eat.

All will be presented on recycled cardboard or shoe box ready to take home.
