Homing the Unhomely: Introspective Landscapes

Exhibition 2 June – 15 June 2018

For his new exhibition Homing the Unhomely: Introspective Landscapes, artist Gwenaël Velge is making the Art Space Collective his home from May 1st 2018.

Guests are invited into his home for an intimate dinner to experience and explore the homeliness of the alien, and the uncanniness of the familiar in hauntingly Australian landscapes.

Arriving in Gwen’s living room, guests will find photographs, fractured narrative elements (by Brendon Briggs), and artefacts. These mixed art forms, settings and perspectives aim to creatively and collectively address themes of home, trauma and identity.

The uncanny as a sub-species of the familiar, serves as a key to illuminating our understanding of what makes a home, Home. And so, Homing the Unhomely invites you to welcome the unhomely.
