Story Walls

Our current project is one of our biggest, most exciting endeavours yet!

About the Murals:

Story Walls aims to support artistic opportunity for Scarborough’s youth as well as lay the foundation for Scarborough’s first Art Precinct. Three well-known Perth mural artists: Straker, Fieldey and Ian Mutch, will come to paint the alleyway walls around the Art Space Collective. These murals will take the form of images from Greek mythology, an ancient form of story-telling. Story-telling is an important way to connect, create togetherness and to thrive in life. These are also qualities, which help maintain mental health.

About the Workshops:

We’re running Guest Artist kids workshops to engage the local kids in creativity – and to keep them off their screens! Straker is running a class on aerosols. Fieldey is running a class painting skatedecks. Art of Resilience are running Gods, Goddesses and Strength Heroes workshops, as well as bringing the Year 5’s from Scarborough Primary School to the Art Space for an excursion. During these workshops kids identify and paint their strengths, with reference to Greek myths. Click below for bookings and more details.

We have been successful in achieving sponsorship for this project from the City of Stirling. A big thanks to them. We’ve run an amazing Chuffed crowd-funding campaign and would like to thank the community for their support. We are also currently waiting to hear if we’ve been successful in a grant application to State Government.
