23rd March 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm$20
In the lead up to Earth Day 2023 the Art Space Collective brings you a month-long creative program Get Down to Earth. During the month we bring you a series of events and workshops that aim to drive energy, enthusiasm and commitment to investing in our planet.
We have been able to bring you this workshop at a special price thanks to The City of Stirling.
Slow slow stitching is a methodology of creating art with a needle and thread with a focus on the process, or journey instead of the destination. In this workshop designed for beginners, Sophie will equip you with the knowledge and techniques to create a unique patchwork wall hanging of your own. We will be using a curated selection of natural reclaimed fabrics, such as linen, wool, silk and hand-dyed cotton to create formal compositions that explore colour, shape, texture and repetition.
Sophie G Nixon is a Boorloo/Perth based textile artist with a Bachelor of Fine Art (honours) from Curtin University. In their arts practice they often use second hand textiles and occasionally plants to explore themes of repair, mending and healing. Sophie exhibits and runs workshops regularly around the Boorloo area, as well as working out of their studio at ROOK ARI in Carlisle. You can find out more about Sophie here: sophiegnixon.com
